Bellevue-based Rafn Co. promoted Todd Morran to senior superintendent. Morran started at Rafn in the mid-1990s, left for a few years, and then returned in 2016. He also is the company's safety committee chair and has been integral in Rafn's efforts to navigate COVID-19 compliance requirements. Morran is currently working on a renovation of the Cherry Street Garage building in Seattle.
The Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington signed up four new members: Homestreet Electric of Tacoma, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter of Tacoma, National Glass Industries of Woodinville and DRSi of Bellevue. Homestreet is a family-owned commercial and residential electrical services company. Mercedes-Benz sells and services Sprinter vans. National Glass distributes flat glass and supplies fabricated glass such as tempered and insulated glass and custom fabricated edge work. DRSi is a full-service commercial digital printer.
Seattle-based Sellen Construction signed an enterprise agreement with Versatile, a tech company that optimizes the construction process through its CraneView platform, which uses an internet of things device mounted to the crane hook to collect and analyze data on each pick while delivering insights that improve budgets, schedules and crane utilization. Sellen began using CraneView in January 2020 on a 211,000-square-foot office project in Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood. Sellen now plans to use CraneView on its other projects. Versatile is based in Los Altos, California.
Vancouver, B.C.-based equipment auctioneer Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers completed its $175 million acquisition of SmartEquip, which provides real-time service and diagnostic support for companies' equipment fleets, as well as electronic procurement of parts from original equipment manufacturers and dealers. SmartEquip is based in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Seattle-based Walsh Construction Co. hired Thao Nguyen as project administrator, Carlos Mendoza as project engineer, Kara Russell as marketing specialist and Vicente Mendoza as assistant superintendent. Nguyen previously worked with the U.S. Green Building Council as an operations specialist and the U.S. Zero Waste Business Council as a certification assistant. She holds a bachelor's degree in environmental science from the University of California, Irvine. Carlos Mendoza has over four years of experience in residential, commercial and heavy civil construction. He previously worked as a staff geologist at both Wood E&IS and Associated Earth Sciences, and holds a bachelor's degree in environmental sciences (geology) from the University of Washington. Russell has over a decade of marketing experience, previously working for the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council as an assistant marketing manager and the Martha & Mary organization as a development manager. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications with a focus in public relations from Washington State University. Vicente Mendoza has over 13 years of experience in the construction industry. He is working on the expansion of the Eliseo retirement campus in Tacoma.

Michael Severson is the new business development manager for UMC's Industrial Group, where he is helping guide expansions in the Portland, southwest Washington and eastern Washington markets. Severson has over 18 years of experience in multiple industrial and high-tech fields, most recently as a sales representative with Victaulic Mechanical. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Portland State University. Mukilteo-based UMC is a mechanical engineering, facilities maintenance and construction company.
Andy Izquierdo joined Sound Transit as chief communications officer, and will help support delivery of the country's largest transit expansion program, according to the agency. Izquierdo comes from Waste Management, where he was chief communications officer. Prior to that, he held communications leadership positions with Yum Brands, PetSmart, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and Belk.
DTG Enterprises of Mill Creek joined the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington. The company provides recycling services and contracts under DTG Recycling Group. Gwen Prince is the sales manager.
