On the Block: Tenant sought for Capitol Hill's only axe-throwing venue

Has the lumbersexual moment finally passed? Tattooed and copiously bearded men in flannel, flinging axes at targets in beer halls (safely screened off, of course), had their pre-pandemic heyday. That breed of burly, back-to-nature dudes sprang from the Great Recession, when so many lost their jobs and homes, then began contemplating a simpler, kinder, more Thoreauvian existence.

Perhaps, some mused, I'll build a cabin, by hand, overlooking a serene pond. I'll let my facial hair grow out. I'll grow my own artisanal food, forage for nuts and berries, ferment my own mead. I'll write in my Moleskine journal with a quill pen. And I'll sustainably source those quills by chasing down and gently grabbing the geese on my pond, then apologize to the geese as I pluck a few feathers, then humanely release them back into the wild — our wild, the shared wild, far from the city, my new home.
