Critics of our criminal justice system often complain how death row inmates avoid the ultimate penalty through endless appeals. But as shown by Rabon v. City of Seattle, it's not just human beings that benefit from stays of execution. In that case, it happens to be two Lhasa Apso dogs who have managed to evade the Big E -- that's euthanization, not execution -- thanks to their wily master's manipulation of the system.
