Pierce Co. puts pause on data centers

TACOMA — The Pierce County Council has approved an emergency ordinance temporarily halting new and expanded data centers exceeding 10 megawatts in unincorporated Pierce County.

The measure, adopted Aug. 25 on a 6-1 vote, prohibits the filing, processing and approval of permits for affected projects for up to one year while county officials continue work on permanent regulations.
