Nonresidential construction spending slips again in March

  • The exception: an ongoing boom in data centers, up 34.3% for the year.
  • Nonresidential construction spending was down for a second straight month in March, according to a new analysis from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

    Total nonresidential spending fell 0.2% in March to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.244 trillion, based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau. The decrease was widespread, with spending dropping in nine of 16 nonresidential categories.
