$746M budget update for King County

SEATTLE — King County Exec. Girmay Zahilay has proposed a $746 million supplemental budget that would direct money toward affordable housing, health care, roads, conservation and other county priorities.

The proposal, transmitted to the King County Council yesterday, would amend the county's 2026-27 budget adopted last November. It includes $19.5 million to create 612 units of shelter and affordable housing across the region, exceeding Zahilay's goal of funding, siting and developing 500 units in 500 days.
