State jobless rate rises to 5.0%

OLYMPIA — The state's unemployment rate rose slightly in January to 5.0%, up from 4.9% in December, according to the state Employment Security Department.

Anneliese Vance-Sherman, chief labor economist for the Employment Security Department, said the rate its the state's highest since 2021 but still relatively low.
