Marten Law recently opened offices in the Mountain West, with locations in Boise and Twin Falls. With the addition of these offices, the firm now has six locations across the country, including: Seattle, Portland, Washington, DC and Boston, and now has almost 20 lawyers practicing exclusively environmental and energy law. Attorneys at the Idaho locations include Albert Barker, John Simpson and Travis Thompson. Barker represents clients in disputes having to do with water rights and water quality, environmental and natural resources, mining, food production, and commercial litigation. He has counseled clients in water rights and right-of-way litigation, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, NEPA, Superfund and other environmental litigation. Barker is also a member of the Idaho Water Resources Board. Simpson assists clients in litigation and administrative proceedings concerning conjunctive administration of ground and surface water, Endangered Species Act, remediation of ground and surface water, adjudication of Native American water rights issues, water right transactions and power generating facilities. He has served as a member of the National Water Resources Association's Policy Development Committee since 2001, and in 2010 was appointed as a representative to the Western States Water Council. He is also one of Idaho Water User Association's representatives for the Columbia Basin Collaborative. Thompson represents individual water users, canal companies, municipal providers, and irrigation districts throughout Idaho. He also counsels clients on general business, small hydroelectric projects, and real property matters and related litigation.
