PCL Construction

Orquiola

In Los Angeles, PCL Construction promoted Cathy Orquiola to regional vice president, now overseeing operations in Seattle and Hawaii along with California. Orquiola began her 26-year construction career as a project engineer, progressing through the field to senior project manager before moving into executive leadership. In 2015, she rejoined PCL as director of corporate development in Denver and was promoted in 2017 to district manager of the California Buildings office in Los Angeles. The following year, she become vice president. In her new position, Orquiola also became a board member of PCL.

Synergy Contractors Group

Woodinville-based Synergy Contractors Group, a wood-framing company, has expanded into prefabricated wall panels, stairs and floor systems. Synergy says the systems can be installed by third parties or as a turnkey package by Synergy. Synergy is a state and federally recognized minority business founded by Joshua C. Schaaf, a member of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota. Schaaf has over 20 years of experience in rough carpentry, specializing in types 3 and 5 construction.

Chambers Bay Roofing

Chambers Bay Construction launched Chambers Bay Roofing, a new division of the general contractor based in University Place. A company news release says the decision came after several years of observing poor quality roofing jobs in the Tacoma area, with many roofers not assessing the condition of a roof's foundation. Mark Carter II is the founder and CEO of Chambers Bay Construction.

Pacific Northwest CMAA

The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America is seeking nominations for its annual Construction Management Project Achievement Awards. The submission deadline is May 27 and awards will be presented June 17 as part of the chapter’s Annual Scholarship and Project Achievement Meeting, which will be held virtually. In 2020, the chapter won two national awards: Issaquah Southeast 62nd Street extension for Transportation (construction value under $50 million), city of Issaquah and KBA Inc.; and Bellevue Downtown Tunnel for Transportation (construction value over $50 million), Sound Transit and McMillen Jacobs Associates.
