Portland-based Standard Insurance Co. (The Standard) hired Albert Maixner as national accounts sales director for retirement plans. Maixner has over 15 years of experience in the retirement plan and financial services industry. Prior to joining The Standard, he worked in retirement plan sales roles at Principal Financial Group and Prime Pensions. Maixner is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary and Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist. The Standard says there is a significant increase in demand for innovative retirement solutions, including pooled employer plans and managed accounts.
Seattle-based MOD Super Fast Pizza Holdings yesterday opened its first store on a military base — at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia. The new store is run by franchise operator ONE Enterprise Group. The company says the new location reflects its ongoing initiative to expand into unique and non-traditional settings, such as military bases, airports and universities.

Powin announced an agreement with Pulse Clean Energy, an investor, developer and operator of flexibility and stability assets in the United Kingdom, to deploy a 50 megawatt/110 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system at the Overhill Project in Scotland. Powin will provide its Stack750 energy storage system with integrated StackOS software, while Pulse will oversee asset delivery and manage operations across the project lifecycle. The Overhill Project is scheduled to enter full commercial operations by mid-2025. It will be capable of storing surplus renewable generation during periods of high production for release back into the grid during periods of lower production or high system demand. Powin is a global energy storage platform provider, offering fully integrated battery solutions, software and services to optimize grid performance and enable the transition to cleaner energy sources. It is headquartered in the greater Portland area.
The Tacoma City Council is seeking applicants to fill nine positions on the Human Services Commission. There are eight member positions and one youth position for those between the ages of 16 and 18. The commission reviews funding applications, rates project applications, and makes human services funding recommendations. It also serves as a resource to the City Council and city staff for issues related to human services and community wellness. The commission has 15 members serving three-year terms, with the exception of the youth position, which has a one-year term. The youth position will be effective Sept. 1. AAA Washington has opened two fleet operations centers in Seattle and Spokane. The new locations will improve response times and coverage in these high-demand regions. AAA Washington's Seattle Fleet Center has relocated from the Magnolia neighborhood to the SoDo area near the Interstate 5 corridor. The expanded facility has areas for continued job training, learning and development; and a smooth flow to ease daily operational activities while providing all materials, tools and on-site mechanical services. It will also be home to AAA Washington's first EV light service truck, a Ford Lightning, and fleet charging stations. Fleet charging stations will soon be installed at the club's Renton facility, which went through a complete refresh last year, and its Spokane and Newport facilities. AAA Washington's Spokane Fleet Center in the Trent Industrial District is the club's first fleet location in the market. This location is fully refurbished in line with employee and operations-centric design and amenities. AAA Washington now has fleet locations in Seattle, Spokane, Renton, Bellevue, Vancouver and Lynnwood.
Sound Transit has launched a pilot project with GoodMaps to offer digital wayfinding for its Westlake and International District/Chinatown stations on the 1 Line. The GoodMaps app uses light detection and ranging (LiDAR) mapping technology to create highly accurate 3D maps of large public spaces' interiors. It can also provide real-time, turn-by-turn directions for all passengers, including those who have visual or hearing impairments, are neurodivergent, or have limited mobility, as well as anyone who feels anxious or uncomfortable in new or complex environments. GoodMaps also supports different languages and multimodal integrations. If the pilot is successful, Sound Transit plans to launch GoodMaps to all Link light rail stations. GoodMaps is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, GoodMaps provides technology for universal and inclusive entrance-to-destination wayfinding.

Boise Cascade announced two executive leadership transitions. Mike Brown, executive vice president of wood products, will retire effective May 3. The board of directors approved the promotion of Troy Little as his successor. Brown joined Boise Cascade in 1999, serving in several leadership positions throughout his tenure. Little has 33 years of service with the company. He provides a broad range of experience in finance, strategy, commodity sales, and operational leadership, including serving as region manager for six manufacturing facilities in Oregon. He was promoted to vice president in 2021 and senior vice president in 2023. Erin Nuxoll, senior vice president of human resources, will also retire effective May 3. The board of directors approved the promotion of Angella Broesch as her successor. Nuxoll has 30 years of service with Boise Cascade, and she most recently guided the implementation of a new companywide HR technology platform. Broesch began her career with Boise Cascade's internal audit team in 2013. In 2020, she transitioned to lead the HR center of expertise for benefits and compensation. She was promoted to senior director of corporate HR in 2022. Prior to joining the company, she worked at MarkMonitor and KPMG. Boise Cascade produces engineered wood products and plywood, and is a wholesale distributor of building products.

Cambia Health Solutions has promoted Stephen Foxley to serve as its next vice president of state affairs. In this role, Foxley will lead state government and regulatory affairs teams across Cambia's four-state footprint. Under Foxley's leadership, Cambia teams will continue their focus on transforming the health care experience through political, legislative and regulatory policy strategies. Since 2017, Foxley has served Cambia as the public affairs and government relations director in Utah. Before joining Cambia, he was an associate at Foxley & Pignanelli, a Utah-based government relations law firm. Cambia Health Solutions is headquartered in Portland.
Seattle-based Qumulo appointed Brian McCloskey as senior vice president, North America sales. McCloskey brings over 20 years of go-to-market experience to his new role, where he will drive the adoption of Qumulo's offerings across North America. Prior to Qumulo, McCloskey was CRO at Fungible, where he led the field and marketing teams. Previously, he held leadership positions at Pure Storage, EMC, NetApp, and SolidFire. Qumulo's Scale Anywhere platform for hybrid enterprises is a 100% software solution to store and manage file and unstructured data.
