Victor Saldanha has joined the loan department of Business Impact NW as chief lending officer. He will anchor the department from Oregon, one of four states that Business Impact NW serves. Previously, Saldanha was the Business Banking Center manager at KeyBank Beaverton. He brings nearly 20 years of banking experience. Saldanha is president of the Hispanic-Latino Key Business Impact networking group and a graduate of Business & HR Management from Portland State University. He will be responsible for SBA, 7a, USDA, CDFI, and investor-funded loans, and work with the technical assistance programs within the organization to deliver coaching and capital to underserved small business owners. Business Impact NW is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) dedicated to serving BIPOC, women, Veteran, immigrant, refugee, LGBTQ+, and low-income entrepreneurs in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska through financial services, business coaching and training.
October 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of Tacoma Arts Month, 31 days dedicated to celebrating the arts in the Tacoma community. The month is full of virtual and in-person arts and culture programs, including: music, dance and theater performances; visual art exhibits; literary readings; lectures; workshops; film screenings and cultural events. Tacoma-based artists and organizations are hosting a wide range of arts and culture programs, both virtual and in-person. Visit tacomaartsmonth.org/events for a calendar of current programming. Over 90 Tacoma artists, working in all artistic disciplines and mediums are holding an “Arts in the Armory” event at the Tacoma Armory for an interactive arts experience on Oct. 16 and Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Artists will be sharing their work and attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the artistic process, ask questions, and make purchases. This event is free and is sponsored by Tacoma Arts Live. Also, community members are invited to submit an honoree for an AMOCAT Arts Award, which recognizes the people and organizations who positively impact the community with their passion, innovation, and commitment to the arts. Lisa Schaures has joined Seyfarth Shaw's Seattle office as a partner in its corporate department. Schaures is the fourth partner Seyfarth has added in Seattle in the past five months. Seyfarth's Seattle office was launched in 2020, and now has 24 lawyers from a cross-section of the firm's practices. Schaures counsels privately-held companies, startups, social ventures, and nonprofit organizations, as well as boards of directors, across industries, and through every stage of growth. She advises clients on corporate structures, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate conversions, and develops strategies for complex tax concerns, deferred compensation, and potential conflicts of interest. In addition, Schaures assists nonprofit organizations on governance, tax exempt compliance, lobbying restrictions, fundraising law, and collaboration with other nonprofits and for-profit corporations. Schaures was most recently a shareholder and technology industry group leader at Pacific Northwest law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt. She is also an adjunct professor at the Seattle University School of Law. Boise-based Albertsons Companies received the Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the company's efforts to provide products that use safer chemicals. The company was recognized in the “Retailer” category for launching new Safer Choice-certified Own Brands products, raising awareness of the Safer Choice certification, and helping to identify opportunities for educating consumers to make informed buying decisions. Since the inception of the EPA program in 2015, Albertsons has received the award four times. Consumers can identify products made with chemicals that are safer for human health and the environment by the Safer Choice label that appears on the product. This label means the EPA has evaluated the product's ingredients and determined they meet the necessary criteria. The company's exclusive Open Nature line was introduced in 2011 and offers products that are free from 110 additives with no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

Myers has 35 years of wealth advisory services experience with a background in investments, finance and taxation. Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary Cheryl Strange has named state senator Jeannie Darneille (D-Tacoma) as assistant secretary of DOC's Women's Prison Division. Darneille has represented the 27th Legislative District for over two decades and is a leading voice for juvenile and criminal justice reforms in Washington State. She currently chairs the Senate Human Services, Reentry & Rehabilitation Committee and serves on the state Senate Law & Justice and Ways & Means committees. Senator Darneille has been an advocate on several task forces addressing poverty, homelessness, incarceration, and child welfare. Darneille's new role will oversee the development of a new Women's Prison Division within the DOC and carries with that responsibilities ranging from policy development and programming to safety and security. Secretary Strange created a Women's Prison Division early in her appointment as DOC Secretary, to advance the department's efforts to develop a gender responsive program that will better address the needs of DOC's female incarcerated population.
Opportunity International, a global non-profit providing financial services to lift people out of poverty, has named retired Microsoft executive Greg Nelson to its board of directors. Nelson most recently was vice president of partner ecosystem, helping Microsoft's Business Applications Independent Software Vendors grow their business. Over his 26-year career at Microsoft, Nelson held a variety of roles spanning disciplines including engineering, partner and business development, marketing and sales. His previous work in developing economies includes teaching English in China and serving as a Rotary Scholar at the University of Cape Town, where he did a one-year post-graduate degree in African Studies with a focus on political transition. PMI Worldwide, a global manufacturer of food and beverage container solutions, announced that Barbara Smith has been appointed vice president, supply chain operations. Smith will lead all aspects of PMI's supply chain operations in the North America and EMEA regions, including sales, demand and supply planning, sourcing, manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. Smith spent three decades in leadership positions at Procter & Gamble, ultimately overseeing supply network operations, manufacturing operations, quality assurance and quality control governance. Smith will partner with PMI's supply chain executives in Asia and South America to set, execute and improve supply chain strategies and performance globally. She will also work closely with PMI customer stakeholders on supply chain solutions and service delivery. Headquartered in Seattle, PMI Worldwide has offices in San Francisco, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Amsterdam, Manila, Rio de Janeiro, and Bentonville, Arkansas.
Seattle-based F5 has reached a definitive agreement to acquire held Threat Stack, a provider of cloud security and workload protection. F5 will acquire all issued and outstanding shares of Threat Stack, a private company headquartered in Boston, for $68 million in purchase consideration, to be financed with balance sheet cash. The transaction is expected to be immaterial to F5's financial results, adding approximately $15 million in revenue for fiscal year 2022 with no change to F5's previously stated operating margin targets for fiscal year 2022. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in F5's first quarter fiscal year 2022, ending Dec. 31, 2021. Foros acted as financial advisor to F5 on this transaction. Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom acted as legal advisor to F5. Boston Meridian Partners acted as strategic advisor and Choate, Hall & Stewart provided legal counsel to Threat Stack.
Digital-freight network Convoy has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, as a participant. With this commitment, Seattle-based Convoy is joining thousands of other companies from around the world in demonstrating its support for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices. The UN Global Compact is a call to companies to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of UN goals and issues embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals. In line with the Global Compact's environment principles, Convoy is reducing empty miles in transportation by leveraging technology and data to optimize how thousands of truckloads efficiently move around the United States each day via its digital freight network. Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 9,500 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories from more than 160 countries.
