Divcon wanted a sustainable, durable and cost-effective building for its new headquarters in Spokane Valley. It also wanted a unique building that would still fit in with its neighbors in the Pinecroft Business Park. Ready-mix concrete helped Divcon reach those goals. The building’s shell is comprised of insulated tilt-up sandwich panels. Its exterior is finished with cast-in brick, as-cast concrete, sandblasted concrete, stone-textured form liner and polished concrete. All of those finishes were created with colored ready-mix concrete. Colored concrete also was used for the front sidewalk. The building’s entry is accentuated by a horizontal concrete panel that appears to float on the glass storefront. In back, stone-textured tilt-up concrete fence panels were used to conceal outdoor storage areas. They were designed to match the color and texture of the main building. Inside, visitors will find polished concrete entry columns that tie into polished concrete floors. All the interior surfaces of the sandwich panels were textured and painted.
